Adoption
Program Overview
The
pets that come into our program are from shelters or are animals
that families have asked us to help rehome. The animals are kept
in foster homes. This gives us a great opportunity to get to know
the animal and understand the environment in which the animal would
do best. It is important to understand if the animal gets along
with other dogs or cats, is good with children, and whether they
would do well alone during the day or do best with someone who is
home most of the time. We are required by law to spay or neuter
any pet we adopt out and we also ensure they are current on their
shots and have a microchip.

Dog
Adoptions
If
you see a dog online in which you are interested, please call to
ensure the pet you are interested in will be at adoption. (925-431-8546)
Not all fosters are able to bring their animals every weekend. Sometimes
arrangements can be made to meet the dog outside our normal adoption
venues. If you would like to move forward, the next step is to fill
out a Dog Adoption Application. We review all applications and approve
the home we feel is the best fit. We then do a home visit where
we check to be sure the environment is safe for the dog. If all
looks good, we proceed with the adoption and you are asked to complete
additional paperwork, including a Dog Adoption Contract. All dogs
are current on their shots, spayed or neutered, and have an implanted
microchip.
Cat
Adoptions
Cats
and kittens come regularly to our adoption venues on the weekends.
If you see one you like, you will be asked to complete a Cat Adoption
Application. We review all applications and approve the home we
feel is the best fit. Then you are asked to complete additional
paperwork, including a Cat Adoption Contract. All cats are current
on their shots, have been tested, have been spayed or neutered,
and have an implanted microchip.
