Rags

When Rags came to the shelter you could barely tell what kind of animal she was.  When the hair was finally trimmed out of her face shelter workers discovered that Rags had two cherry eyes, making it nearly impossible for her to see. H.A.R.P.‟s Dog Adoption Manager, Gloria, saw that Rags would make a loving addition to a home, and decided to take her into the foster program.

Saving Rags‟ vision was a challenge, as veterinary bills are very expensive. H.A.R.P. was stretched thin to cover all the expenses. Gloria called five veterinary eye specialists in the area who gave her quote after quote of costs that H.A.R.P. could not afford. Dr. Dennis Hacker, an Animal Eye Specialist in El Cerrito, stepped in to save the day when he told Gloria he would discount the surgery on both of Rags‟ eyes. Thanks to Dr. Hacker‟s extreme generosity, Rags‟ cherry eyes are a thing of the past.

Rags found a home with Gary and Linda Tucker, who paid for every single one of her medical bills. Their gracious act gave H.A.R.P. the funds to help more animals like Rags to heal and find homes.
