There are many different ways you can make a donation and help the homeless animals in East Contra Costa County. We raise money through our adoption fees and fund raising events. However, we struggle with paying our veterinary bills and foster care expenses.
You can send a money donation in the form of a check made payable to “H.A.R.P.”
Your canceled check is your receipt. For donations of $250 or more we will provide you with a letter confirming your donation as required by the IRS.
Mail to: HARP, PO Box 3167, Antioch CA 94531-3167
Tax ID: 20-4706865
You can also donate money using PayPal or a credit card. To do so, please click the donate button below:
Food & Supplies
We can always use office supplies such as white copy paper, postage stamps, canned and dry cat food, dog leashes and collars, and harnesses for small and tiny dogs. Gift cards from office supply store will help us purchase file folders and other items that are used specifically for our record keeping. If you have BART tickets with a small value left, please mail them to us or bring them to one of our events. We turn those into BART and receive money depending on the total value.
If you have items you wish to donate, please call our message line at 925-431-8546 to arrange for someone to pick up the donation or to bring them to us. We will issue a receipt for tax purposes if you request one.
H.A.R.P. is looking for donations of any of the following items:
- Foster dog and cat supplies
- Food for feral cats
- Unused BART tickets
- White and colored copy paper
- Leashes, collars, and harnesses
H.A.R.P. will accept your vehicles through Car Donation Services. They will pick up your car, whether running or not, and handle the DMV paperwork. They will sell the vehicle and share the proceeds with H.A.R.P. We very much appreciate your donation. All money directly benefits the animals since we do not have rental offices or a shelter and only volunteers, no paid staff.
To donate your vehicle complete our on-line donation form, or call (925) 229-5444 and tell them you want to donate your vehicle to H.A.R.P.

Pet Food Express: My Mutt
The “My Mutt” program is Pet Food Express’ and Virtual Pet Adoption’s attempt to raise awareness of the most popular breed of all, the Mutt. The large, striking pictures on the walls of the Pet Food Express stores are images of dogs and cats that have been adopted from Bay Area shelters and rescue groups. These photos are our way of celebrating these wonderful animals and also a means of helping out the rescue organizations and shelters who do the tireless front line work of finding homes for animals in need. We could not be more proud to have them on our walls or to have played a role in helping these animals to find a new home through http://www.virtualpetadoptions.com.
You can participate in the My Mutt program by letting our talented photographer take a picture of your dog, cat or other pet to hang on our walls. Purebred dogs and cats are welcome, too! Your participation will help us to promote the adoption of rescued pets as well as directly contributing to the continued existence of your favorite shelter or rescue group.
Here is how the My Mutt program works: Pet Food Express pays all associated costs of producing the striking photographs and mounting them in our stores. We estimate that each photograph costs us about $400 to produce & install. When you donate at least $250 to a Bay Area animal shelter or rescue group of your choice, your pet’s photo* will be produced & mounted on a wall of a Pet Food Express store. For a donation of $500 or more, you can keep the poster after it has been displayed for about 10 - 12 months. Your donation will help sustain the work of shelters and rescue groups by providing food, medical needs, space and other miscellaneous shelter needs. Your donation may be tax deductible, and most importantly, you get the great feeling that comes with helping homeless pets!
For more information go to the Pet Food Express website: http://www.petfoodexpress.com.
