We are always in need of foster families for our dogs and cats, but we appreciate assistance with the other tasks that help our organization contribute to the community. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact our Volunteer Coordinator via phone, email or download and complete the appropriate form below.
HARP takes in homeless cats and dogs from various sources. Animals within our program are cared for and live with foster families until they are adopted. Fostering can be both exciting and rewarding. Fosters’ tend to the basic needs of the animals under their care including feeding, grooming, veterinary appointments as well as attending adoption events. Expenses related to the animals care and medical needs are covered by HARP.
HARP participates in many events in the East Bay Area in order to educate people about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying/neutering, microchiping and the growing problem of free roaming animal populations. Volunteers would attend events and assist with distribution of education materials.
Donation Pickup & Distribution
H.A.R.P. receives donations of food, pet supplies and other items from individuals in the community, businesses and organizations. Volunteers assist with the pick up and distribution of donations to fostering families, Senior Citizens and low income people if supplies are available.
Besides our adoption fees, H.A.R.P. raises money through fund raising events conducted throughout the year such as summer yard sales and Santa pictures in December. Volunteers would assist with distribution of event materials, general fund raising, as well as event preparation and set up.
Each quarter we produces the “HARP Notes” newsletter which is mailed to our subscribers and supporters. Volunteers would assist with the preparation, mailing and distribution of the newsletter.
Adoptions are held every Saturday and Sunday except holidays.
